Nestled in one of the oldest settled areas in the verdant Macedon Ranges, Cadella Park is a working farm, rich with history and home to a unique and breathtaking venue by Prunella.

Celebrating all the charm and beauty inherent in the original 1845 buildings, Prunella have embraced the rustic, European elegance of the property and blended it with a modern functionality, to create a distinctive and highly flexible space, ideal for your next event. The extensive property features a gracefully updated century-old barn at its centre, surrounded by serene farmland dotted with cows and horses, whose occasional greetings float across the paddocks. Hemmed by manicured hedges and stately post-and-rail wooden fences, the property offers an abundance of backdrops for portrait hour and multiple spaces to move the celebrations between.

THE PROPERTY

Cadella Park is a unique private property nestled in the tiny town of Cadello, situated between Woodend and Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges - an easy 50 minute drive from Melbourne.

Guests enter the driveway down an avenue of majestic elms, arriving at (one of) the ceremony sites through old farm gates and a hawthorn hedge. A giant cypress tree provides the central backdrop for ceremonies, with country fields and grazing animals glimpsed beyond.

The Barn which is the heart of the Cadella Park experience offers plenty of room for seated dining, grazing and lounging before dancing the night away on a mediterranean style terracotta concrete floor. A six-metre long bar in front of an original stone facade keeps the drinks flowing in this generously open event space, lit by vintage sash windows and later, artisan-made Baroque lanterns.

A European-style outdoor courtyard adjacent to the barn features generous plantings of rosemary and olive trees. Lit with festoon lighting it offers a beautiful alternative space for aperitifs or an alfresco reception.

Cadella Park also boasts a number of unique locations for your photos, including rolling fields with views to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock, wooden stables, elegant towering hedges, corrugated iron water tanks and original stone walls.

THE SPACES

Cadella Park is home to an array of unique and beautiful spaces, designed to draw you and your guests throughout the property, as the day unfolds.

Creating a celebration in this roving style, sees you making your way from space to space, surprised and delighted anew, as each area is revealed. There’s no need for you to travel or for your guests to be left untethered during portrait hour! Everything happens effortlessly at one location, with the multiple spaces punctuating gorgeous new chapters throughout the day.

Each unique part of the property can be configured to create your ideal ceremony or reception backdrop, as well as a wet-weather back-up in the barn, in the event of outdoor celebrations! With no two events at Cadella Park exactly the same, together we will design the spaces and sequencing of your day, just for you. Here are some examples of how each of these spaces have been enjoyed in the past….

Your wedding ceremony deserves a breathtaking scene, with the majestic proportions of ancient trees (or a heritage barn) as backdrop. Our hundred year old single Cypress, flanked by golden paddocks beyond, is a stunning open-air option, while our elegant avenue of elms lends an intimacy as well as the drama of symmetry at a grand scale, with its cathedral-like natural canopy. The barn itself is transformed with oversized botanical styling (or an indoor avenue of trees) which serves as a gorgeous alternative to an outdoor ceremony - or the ultimate plan B, in the event of inclement weather.

Following the ceremony, guests are traditionally served by the old dairy which has been converted into a rustic outdoor bar where you can relax and mingle with drinks and canapés in the dappled shade of sweeping pin oaks. As the sun sets behind a grove of poplars, the light and landscape turn golden, awaiting your portraits in nearby surrounds. The courtyard adjacent to the barn is another beautiful option. Hemmed by olive trees and planted with cascading tubs of rosemary, it’s a gorgeously European inspired space in which to enjoy and Aperol spritz or a gin and tonic in the sunshine.

Why not embrace the Summer months with a reception bathed in afternoon sunlight & later, lit by stars. Immediately adjacent to the barn is our Mediterranean style pebbled courtyard, strung with festoon lighting overhead. This option offers immediate access to the barn (and its 6 metre long bar!), when it’s time to migrate to the dance floor. For a truly spectacular option, a long single table can be set beneath our elm avenue, for an ‘infinity’ dining room experience. This offers a gorgeous reveal as guests stroll through the property to discover their dining destination. A marquee in the gardens is also a possibility, for those seeking a completely weather-proof plan!

At the heart of the Cadella Park experience is our heritage barn. Featuring unique original details and hand forged materials throughout, all thoughtfully enhanced by Prunella’s inimitable styling, the barn offers itself as a breathtaking blank canvas, ready to be transformed into your dream reception. The grand proportions of the space allow for a variety of seating configurations, along with an enormous bar and a generous dance floor so everything can be celebrated under one roof.

As the sun begins to sink in the sky, the light surrounding Cadella Park takes on a particularly magic quality. Our magnificent driveway is thrown into dappled light, the poplars glow and the paddocks surrounding the property turn to gold. With ancient stone walls, sweeping hedges, post and rail fences (housing friendly horses), sun drenched fields and character filled stables, there’s an abundance of natural backdrops to explore. Wandering through each of these spaces on foot (no need to drive or leave the property) also affords you a precious moment of stillness, in the midst of celebrations, to simply soak it all in together.
